“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest”.
Mathew 11:28
We all know what being tired feels like. Everyday we have a schedule or routine. As a woman being a wife, mother, working full-time and studying can be overwhelming. We know what it is like to fall asleep in a cough and not finish a task; perhaps not being able to clean the whole house as planned, Instead you fail to sleep. Rest is essential for us in many ways. Without rest and more specifically sleep our mind and body are unable to function the way they were designed. We need to eat healthy and drink plenty of water to balance our life.
My first shift as a registered nurse in the emergency department was a challenge. It was my first time working a night shift. The next day; I couldn't even get off the bed. I felt such pain in my whole body and I was overwhelmed with such a physical job. I wonder if I was going to keep up with my night residency job. All I could think was; how exhausted and how much my body hurt the next day.
Rest in the Lord, refers to a spiritual rest from confusion, worry, stress, useless human effort, and a break from all activities. In the Hebrew rest means to be at peace. I feel secure with Jesus. I know that he is my rock and that he will give me the strength, the knowledge to finish my residency strong. We must learn to rest in the Lord and to understand that it is okay to take a day to just reset. “We can do all things through Jesus Christ who strengthens me”. Therefore, rest in the Lord. Wait patiently for the Lord. “I call on the Lord and he answers me and delivers me”. “Come to me all who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest”. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for yours souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you his light”. We live a life full of hustle and full schedules. Today in Butterfly by Grace Mommy & daughter blog; we want to encourage you to rest in the Lord. He will give you the strength you need to continue. Taking care of your body which is the body of Christ is and should be a priority. We must understand the importance of getting plenty of fluids and eating a healthy diet to be able to keep up with our busy schedule. Take time to rest your body. “Even youth grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fail; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and and not be faint”. Lets pray
Father God, I come to you and ask you for your rest and peace. Jesus I pray you lift the burden of everyone who's reading looking for rest and peace. Father God, l pray that everyone asking for peace may turn to you in prayer and supplication. Thank you for the victory! In the name of Jesus, Amen.
